HISTORY OF THE 356

THE FIRST PORSCHE TYPE 356 ROLLED OFF THE PRODUCTION LINE IN STUTGART IN 1950. A NEW CHAPTER BEGAN WITH MANY MODELS DESIGNATIONS TO FOLLOW.

In its design, the Porsche 356 was the company’s first production sports car. With an evolution starting with the Pre-A, 356A, 356B and the final Series the 356C. In each form they were built predominantly as either Coupe or Cabriolets. Although several variations were available as ‘Notchback Coupes’ or ‘Speedster and Roadster Convertibles’. This extended to the engine too, with the addition, in limited numbers, of the road-going Carrera four-cam option.
