THE NUMBER 1 EDITION
On the 10th July 2019 Bentley marked its 100th year. The centenary was marked by the release of the Continental GT Convertible ‘Number 1 Edition’, with a production of just 100 examples. Inspired by the original No. 1 Bentley Blower, which in 1932 set a lap record at the famous Brooklands racetrack in Surrey. Driven by ‘Bentley Boy’ Tim Birkiin, the 4 ½ litre supercharged Bentley averaged a staggering 137 mph.
At the heart of the latest Number 1 Edition sits an enhanced version of Bentley’s renowned 6.0 litre, twin turbocharged W12 TSI engine, producing 626 hp @6,000 rpm with a 0-60 time of a mere 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 207 mph.
Positioned in the innovative Bentley Rotating Display, every Number 1 Edition features a small wheel spinner set in resin, reminiscent of those found on the Birkin Bentley, Each spinner is cast from an actual piece of piston taken from the original No.1 during its restoration work.
Bespoke specification includes 18 carat gold-plated fender badging and a painted Number 1 front grille.
THIS ACTUAL CAR
This vehicle comes out of a private collection & one or the Limited Edition trio Centenary models. Although not for actual sale the owner may be interested in parting with the Trio.
Original RHD UK delivery, this Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition is lavished by Dragon Red II exterior metallic coachwork, set off with 18 carat gold plated fender badging, Black-Line specification, Carbon Body Kit, 22 inch MDS Gloss Black wheels and Beluga folding hood. All rounded off by the bespoke Number 1 painted front grille.
The interior is finished in Cricket Ball main hide, complimented by Heritage hide on the seats and door pads, with debossed ‘B’ insignia on the headrests and door inserts. The Grand Clack wood veneer is enhanced by 18 carat gold plated organ stops and Alcantara steering wheel and gear lever. A British Jaeger clock featuring a Number 1 face sits in the uniquely crafted dashboard, incorporating a turned aluminium Engine Spin finish on the centre console.

The Number 1 Edition also features the Bentley Centenary Specification Pack, which includes Centenary badges to the rear and on the wheel centres, Centenary LED welcome lamps, Centenary badging on the gear lever and steering wheel, and a Centenary badge on the key-fob.
As was the original Bentley Blower No 1, this in our opinion is a future classic. Although currently with its owner it may be available for sale as the owne has the Trio of Centenary models & would suit an enthusiast or collector with whom this vehicle will represent a good acquisition opportunity.
